Greggs Foundation Announces Round 3 Grantees for Community Grants Programme
The Greggs Foundation is delighted to reveal the community organisations successfully awarded grants during the third round of funding from the Community Grants Programme. Five outstanding organisations have been awarded £40,000 each for two years to support their crucial work.
This funding reinforces the Foundation’s commitment to empowering community organisations across the UK by supporting projects that make a real difference to local people.
The grantees for this round are The Comfrey Project, Birkheads Wild, Big League, Curious Arts in Hartlepool, and West Chadsmoor Family Centre. Each of these organisations really stood out for their dedication to community engagement, inclusivity, and the positive impact they have on the people they serve.
The Comfrey Project, based in Gateshead, is known for its exceptional work in supporting refugees and asylum seekers through therapeutic horticulture, arts, and crafts. The grant will enable the project to expand its services, offering even more opportunities for vulnerable individuals to build confidence, develop new skills, and integrate into the local community.
Birkheads Wild, a nature-based organisation located in Gateshead, focuses on connecting people with nature through outdoor education and conservation activities. The funding will support their innovative programmes aimed at children and young people, encouraging them to develop a lifelong love for the environment while gaining valuable life skills.
The Big League CIC in Hartlepool ensures crisis support is available for individuals and families in need, as well as helping people make social connections, find volunteering options and source work placements. The team are focused on helping people to have options, information and support to reduce the need for crisis or emergency support and help improve connections and opportunities to build a better and more stable future.
Curious Arts is an arts organisation that champions LGBTQ+ inclusion through creative arts. The funding will support their efforts to bring more inclusive and diverse cultural programming to Hartlepool, celebrating the talents of LGBTQ+ artists and providing safe, welcoming spaces for self-expression.
Finally, West Chadsmoor Family Centre in Cannock offers a lifeline to local families by providing a wide range of support services, including childcare, education, and wellbeing programmes. The grant will help the centre continue its vital work, supporting families in need and strengthening the community fabric.
