The Greggs Foundation is delighted to announce the recipients of the first funding round for our 2025 Community Grants, with seven outstanding organisations awarded a total of £40,000 each to support their vital work in local communities. These grants, which will be distributed over two years, offer core funding to help ensure these charitable organisations can continue to deliver essential services.

The Greggs Foundation’s community grants are unique in that they enable community organisations to cover essential costs such as staff salaries, rent, and other operational expenses. By offering flexible core funding grants, the Foundation hopes to help strengthen the impact of local initiatives that continue to make a real difference.

The following organisations in our three focus locations for this funding round have been successful:

Sunderland Area:

Grace House North East

Grace House is a charity that provides respite care, short breaks, and support for children with disabilities and their families. With this grant, Grace House will be able to continue offering vital services to families who are often underserved, providing relief and care for children with complex health needs.

Sunderland Bangladesh International Centre (SBIC)

SBIC plays a crucial role in supporting the Bangladeshi community in Sunderland, delivering a range of educational, social, and cultural activities. The funding will help SBIC to expand its outreach and improve services, fostering greater community cohesion and support for local families.

ShARP (Shiney Advice and Resource Project)

The grant will allow ShARP to maintain its outreach services and continue supporting the local Sunderland community in navigating complex issues such as debt, housing, and employment through accessible and friendly advice and information services.

Redcar & Cleveland Area:

Footprints in the Community

Footprints in the Community supports vulnerable and isolated people through food banks, community hubs, and services for those experiencing homelessness. The funding will enable Footprints to expand its outreach and provide more comprehensive support for those facing hardship.

Kidz Konnekt

Kidz Konnekt is a social enterprise that provides support to children and young people with special needs, promoting inclusivity and well-being.

Salford, Manchester Area:

Lifecentre Salford

Lifecentre Salford is a charity providing support for individuals affected by sexual abuse and exploitation. With the grant, Lifecentre will be able to continue offering specialist services, including therapy and support groups, helping survivors on their path to recovery.

Youth Leads UK

Youth Leads UK provides young people with the skills, confidence, and opportunities to become leaders in their communities. This funding will enable Youth Leads UK to expand its programmes, fostering the next generation of community leaders.

A proportion of the funding for these grants is made possible thanks to the growing number of Greggs outlets across the UK. A percentage of profits derived from the unsold food available via Greggs Outlets is donated to fund the community grant programme from the Greggs Foundation to ensure profits are reinvested back into organisations close to Outlet locations.

These organisations will play a pivotal role in supporting the most vulnerable members of their communities. The Greggs Foundation is proud to contribute to their work and looks forward to seeing the positive impact these grants will have in Sunderland, Redcar & Cleveland, and Salford.
